While we did manage to catch a glimpse of fireworks from our backyard last night, we chose to celebrate the holiday with some friends at the beach and at the water park this weekend.
The Farrells made their way down to the "Redneck Riviera," aka Myrtle Beach, on Saturday ready to hit the beach. As always, it took what seemed like an eternity to pack every thing up in the car, but we managed to head out the door at a reasonable hour. We didn't have to fight too much traffic which was surprising and finding a parking space for two cars came rather easily as well.
Dylan and Evan were in motion the entire time - to the ocean and back, to the ocean and back. Robert and Dan got their work out for sure. Sarah, whom is expecting baby #2 in December (yay!) and myself were on baby duty - or maybe I should say we were on dirt patrol. By the time Mattie was done shoveling all of Garden City Beach in her mouth, city officials probably had to request beach renourishment after we left.
We spent Sunday at the water park. Again, the men ran with the little ones while Sarah and I kept the baby content. Three hours proved to be more than enough fun time as Evan and Dylan were beginning to show signs of exhaustion, i.e. impending tantrums. They were both asleep before we even pulled out of the parking lot.
We rounded out the weekend with a visit to Wonder Works on Monday. With no intention of fighting the crowd inside, we chose just to have lunch before Dan and Sarah headed back to the Pines. As always, it was so good to spend time with such special friends. Looking forward to spending time with them as a family of four!

Robert Stinnett for Mayor
How official does Robert look in this picture? It totally cracks me up.
As Robert addressed the media and the public at Wonder Work's ribbon cutting last week, the President of the Chamber and the President of Burroughs & Chapin (they basically own all of Myrtle Beach) appear to be either really bored or somewhat distracted. Robert claims one was checking out his booty while the other was winking at a hottie reporter. Not likely, but it certainly makes you wonder. hee hee

Wall Gallery
Robert has left it up to me to personalize his new office. He put in a request for family pictures so that is exactly what I delivered this morning.
I spent the last two days begging Evan to sit with Mattie so that I could get a few decent shots of them together. All of the lollipops and gummies in the world couldn't make this kid cooperate. I was able to get a couple of cute ones for the gallery of frames I purchased for Robert's office wall. This is pretty much the arrangement when it was all said and done...
Of course we have no family pictures so Robert will have to settle for the Olan Mills church picture we had taken for the church directory. Those will be coming soon - can you sense my excitement?

Blackberry
Robert has been hard at work preparing for the opening of Wonder Works. This weekend they had a soft opening allowing visitors to pop in and check out some of what was complete at a discounted rate. The grand opening is today at noon (good luck, babe!).
Spending the weekend alone is not really my preference, but I realized after looking through my phone this morning that I don't let Robert miss much of what we're doing while he is away. Our trips to Target, our adventures in the backyard and even our musical experiences in the car (this one is a real treat) are recorded and then sent to Dada via my Blackberry. While I'm sure Robert enjoys our heartfelt messages, most of what I send is for my own amusement and entertainment. It's my way of having an adult to communicate with.
Trips to the Store
Backyard Adventures
Lounging Around
Listening to Music in the Car
(Observe how Evan becomes possessed by the song - mouth and eyes get really weird)

Wonder Works Coming Soon
Wonder Works is hoping to open sometime in April and the media is knocking down the door for interviews. Being in front of a camera is not always comfortable, especially one that is broadcasting live. But once again my husband has proven me wrong - he actually can pull off a hard hat.
Amazing job, babe. You're my celebrity.
