Back in the Saddle

I feel like I've been on auto-pilot the last few weeks, hence my infrequent postings - but despite my busy schedule, I am determined to get something recorded from the last couple of weeks even if the subject matter lacks adventure or excitement.

We signed Evan up for the Kids Club at Frank Theaters Bowling.  One Saturday a month he either gets to view a free movie or bowl against other Kid Clubbers.  Last Saturday was his first shot at bowling which proved to be a challenge, but fun nonetheless.  We tried various methods of getting the ball down the alley, but Evan was absolutely insistent on one thing - doing it himself. It was a looong ten frames.

On a completely different note - more school pictures were taken, but this time we actually broke out the checkbook.  I've mentioned my dislike for cheesy props and hideous backdrops that many companies use - in fact, it goes beyond dislike - I loathe all of it.  But what about animal props?  REAL animal props?  Like a mini horse?

I nearly collapsed on the floor I was laughing so hard when I opened these.  Evan looked so darn cute and the mini horse was awesome!  The cowboy gear was even a cute touch - even if Evan is so NOT cowboy material.

And here's a few random pictures from the last few weeks...

My Little Helper

This is Evan's idea of helping me bathe Mattie J.  For her sake, I may have to limit his access.

Mood Altering Tunes

For me, driving and singing go together like peanut butter and jelly.  Not only do I have to have a song playing while I'm driving, but it has to be a song that I can belt out - whether or not I'm singing the right words is irrelevant.  It's all about the mood.

Every now and then I'll come across a song that can instantly put me in a good mood.  It could be raining outside and I've just dealt with one of Evan's blood boiling tantrums, but as soon as that one song comes on the sky miraculously turns Carolina blue, all anger has escaped me and it feels like I'm getting ready to spend the weekend with great friends.

My radio volume is cranked when this song from the Zac Brown Band is played:

Laugh for the Day

I came across this video on another blog I read and I was literally laughing out loud.  Thinking about what my reaction would be made me laugh even harder...hope you find as much amusement as I did.

Romper Nation

Remember looking back at pictures of your mom and her friends and thinking how hideous the fashion was back then?  Well we all know that styles come and go and many tend to make there way back in the spotlight.  Some I don't mind so much; others need to be erased from fashion history for good.

Browsing through magazines and various clothing stores I was shocked to see the romper is making a comeback.  First of all, aren't rompers for babies?  And secondly, any one-piece made of denim should be burned.

Amanda and I were shopping around yesterday and came across rompers of all styles and materials.  Denim, terry cloth, cotton, silk...belted, buttoned, ruffled, ruched...halter, sleeveless, strapless...and worst of all - suspenders!  You name it, we saw it.

We found a terry cloth number that was striped, strapless and was only $9.99.  We were laughing at the thought of wearing them to the beach and decided for that price it was worth buying just to put on and take a picture.

After putting Evan to bed we reverted back to our college ways.  We dressed up in our hot new outfits, set up the camera and put on the self-timer.  We probably took 25-30 pictures hysterically laughing the entire time.  We literally had tears streaming down our faces as we looked at each other in those ridiculous one- pieces.  The pictures will never make it into a frame I'm afraid, but they will certainly be put away for another day when I need a good laugh.

Say What

Call us immature, but Robert and I always get a good laugh when we pass this sign.  Seems like "disturb" would've worked just fine.

Gum on Cart

Several times a day you'll hear me ask Evan what he has in his mouth.  And he's really good about spitting out whatever it is he's working on when asked.  I'm actually fortunate that he doesn't ever put random objects in his mouth, but rather only things resembling food.  And we all know what that resemblance has been in the past.

We were in Publix yesterday doing a little gro gro shopping.  Evan loves riding in the carts that double as a car.  He turns that steering wheel as though he's really going places - and does the sound effects the entire time too.  It really is adorable.  In the midst of my aisle browsing I noticed Evan was moving something around in his mouth.  I held out my hand and asked him to spit out whatever it was he was chewing. At first I couldn't make out what it was, but after further inspection I realized that Evan was chewing GUM!  Gum!??  Where in the world did he get gum?

To those of you who are guilty of sticking your gum to the underside of a table - shame on you.  There's no telling who was the original owner of that piece of gum that was stuck to the inside of the cart - but there is no doubt that they have a new spit brother.  And I'll just convince myself this was an effort to build up Evan's immune system.

Not That Any One Cares

Is there something wrong with me?  For some reason I find so much amusement in baby poop - I mean I've always found humor in "the thunder from down under" (I can probably thank my brothers for that), but I have now become completely desensitized to the horror of poop too.  I realize this is completely ridiculous to make note of, but Evan had one of the worst diapers in his 18 months of life.  I lucked out big time too because it was Robert's turn for diaper duty.  I looked on as he began to tear away the tabs and reveal the muddy distater within - he didn't even have the diaper open before he started gagging and heaving.  It was the god awful smell that was so bad.  I was literally in tears - and not from the smell, but from watching Robert crumble under the pressure - no pun intended.

No, You're Not Lost

As you can see I have changed the look of my blog.  There are so many templates out there, but I have found that the ones designed in WordPress are much more artistic and not so generic looking.  So I decided to change it up.

And to just throw a suggestion out there - how about leaving a comment every now and then?  ahem - MOM?
